Covered lots of ground in Baltimore yesterday. One of the things I'd hoped to do was find some of the houses where ancestors of mine lived in the old area called Federal Hill. I did find one but another had been torn down and the third one I tried to find was # 60 Hamburg St but the addresses jumped from the 40's to the 100's. We loved seeing the neighborhood, tho - blocks and blocks of picturesque row houses. Most were built for working class people - 2 small rooms downstairs plus a kitchen, 2 small rooms upstairs and a tiny attic, plus an outhouse out back!

This is the one house we could find - my great-grandfather Tydings lived here and his mother was living with him here when she died in 1904. This is one of the few we saw painted white - most were brick.

This is Baltimore's Inner Harbor from the balcony of the restaurant where we ate lunch - an Irish pub called Tir Na Nog. It was obvious that this is the place to be on a nice weekend - street musicians, vendors, balloon artists, etc.

The USS Constellation is docked here - she is a sister ship to "Old Ironsides." We went on board and were able to go all over the ship.

Ft. McHenry was very interesting - very good displays and a movie explaining its part in the War of 1812 and the writing of the Star Spangled Banner.

We saw some beautiful ships on our water taxi trips around the harbor - from sailing ships like this to cruise ships and yachts.

Gary toured a submarine that is also moored in the harbor - Karen has been in one submarine and didn't care to repeat the experience!

The sun was going down and our feet had had enough so we started home. On the way we found a Friendly's Ice Cream Restaurant - one of favorite places when we lived in New England - had to indulge! Gary had a hamburger and fries - they make great burgers - but I had a caramel nut waffle sundae for dinner!!! Should have taken a photo - it was amazing!
