We are in Glasgow tonight at the end of a great day. Started off in Liverpool at the Beatles Story - a really well-done exhibit about the Fab Four, their early days in Liverpool and how fame affected them.
The Cavern - a Liverpool nightspot where they played in the early days. |
This is the closest we could come to walking on Abbey Road! |
Then it was on to the Lake Country of northern England, home of poet William Wordsworth and children’s author Beatrix Potter. It was absolutely beautiful there - very green and peaceful. We had lunch in the village of Grasmere and some time to explore there. That’s where Wordsworth lived much of his adult life and is buried. It’s also famous for a little shop that has been selling gingerbread for over 200 years - we all got a tin of it to take home!
Our first stop in Scotland was in Gretna Green, where couples used to flee to get married quickly at the local blacksmith’s shop right over the Scottish border.
Explored a little in Glasgow before dinner - wish we had more time here but it's on to a busy day tomorrow.
I am sooo pleased for you guys that your trip is so wonderful!!!! The pictures of the Lake Country don't look anything like what we saw. Enjoy Scotland!
